Subject: Ideas For A Song Needed

Written By: CatwomanofV on 04/09/09 at 11:04 am

I'm sure many of you realize that Carlos' youngest is getting married this summer. They are now looking for a father/daughter dance song. For his other daughters' weddings, they always danced to "The Wind Beneath My Wings". His daughter doesn't want that song because as she pointed out, the other marriages didn't last.  :-\\  So, she wants something different but none of us have any ideas.

Any suggestions?

There is the song by Luther Vandross called Dance With My Father, but that has sad connections for this was his lst hit before his sad death.

I found this link, you may want to check it out

http://fatherhood.about.com/od/daughersanddads/a/wedding_songs.htm

Personally, I think "You light up my life" would be a nice song.

Thanks, Philip but that was just a bit too sad.

Thanks for the link. I looked at the list and Unforgettable jumped out at me. Carlos loved that one. I sent a copy to my step-daughter with the story behind it. So, we do have a contender.

Any other suggestions?

I suppose that 'Something Stupid" would be inappropriate?  (Well, it was a father and daughter hit).. ;D

Too bad neither of you speak or understand Dutch, else I'd recommend Dochters (Daughters) by Marco Borsato.

In short: the song is about how quickly they grow up, but how they'll always remain daddy's little girl - even if they're getting married. It was a big hit over here.

This is a "no joke" suggestion.  One I played at a wedding was "Twenty-One", by Joe Pesci.

Of course, for a joke I have played "The Bride" by Trick Pony.

I love these choices!

One of my best friends had "Isn't She Lovely" played and it was a hit with everyone. One of the highlights of the dances.

"I Loved Her First" is a HUGE wedding song here in the South.  It's a Country song, but you have to hear it because it sounds like a man is pining for an ex as he watches a young woman dance with her new husband.  Then you realize the more he says that it's about how much he loves his daughter and he really hopes this husband treats her well.  So touching-smiles and happy tears!!

I thought that would be an OUTSTANDING choice and I sent that to the "bride-to-be." Unfortunately, she hates the song.  :-\\  Oh, well.
