Haha, I know where this has come from. Karma to you for 'taking up the challenge'!

Who do you reckon has/had the greatest singing voice - Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Diana Ross or Meatloaf?

I never even went to college,  my uncle is Rick Rubin. I was suppose to be pushed as an artist but I ended up being a songwriter instead

usually you need 2 go 2 college,  a school like Berklee is usually the school you would go to. Good thing sony has a publishing partner ship with management agencys
or it would be a lot harder to get in.

Does the music industry create/dictate trends in popular music, or does it follow them?

The industry as a whole follows and creates at the same time.  A Artists such as Gaga set the standard for electropop. Kanye/Jay Z Trap. So if one thing becomes a
breakout trend  the labels will try to find  acts like it to capitalize on the popularity.  This is not always the case tho. But usualy the labels get smart to whats going on
underground and try to get on that train as soon as they need be.

Here are some questions that were sent to me today.

1) When you say the big record companies are looking to independent labels, does that mean they are looking to buy out the labels, or just raid the indie scenes? Do the record companies feel the MGMT electro-like and the fun. type of Indie Rock is the "next big thing" in a way?

To raid the the indiemovement kinda when Subpop was being raided by labels.  Yes they are aware of this and read this board frequently.

2.) You talk about Futurepop - what is that?

this

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BltUqnw3fEA

3.) Who are some artists we should look forward to in 2013/2014?

Kendrick Lamar , M.A.U ,  ASAP ROCKY, Purity Ring, Neon Indian, Beta Love

4.) How do the record companies feel about the Lady Gaga/Ke$ha/Katy Perry electropop sound? Do they feel it will last the whole decade, or do they feel another way?

To them its dead, Edm and indie pop is the new gen

I don't dislike it, I dislike when dubstep is like overdone to the point of washing out the production.  I like Dragoneetee  & Carly Rey. It depends on who the artist is.
Deadmau5 is good 2 in moderation.

You spelled those first two names correctly, and you incorrectly capitalized the last one.  Not to nitpick, but one in the music business should know better!

Rodney Jerkins was the in house producer at Quad Studios he owns a share in it.
Calls bs  You asked me what songs I have worked on and I told u.

Pretty stupid of you to ask  " did you work on the song?"  then go "I call bs"
Maybe you have never met anyone whos worked with famous ppl? Thats not my fault.

Im answering you're question that you asked me. Maybe next time I won't answer you at all
When a producer works on a song there are song writers (sony/atv) that are included for
certain projects. Please do some research about producing music before rationalizing skepticism .
Also who cares that I co wrote it its just a song lol. We all have jobs

I will give you this:

1. It is very possible that you work or have worked in the record industry - custodian perhaps?
2. I do not believe for one second that you have co-wrote hit songs with producers and pop superstars - my prerogative.
Why? Because you lack education in the field and already told us you worked there because of nepotism. Rick Rubin is your supposed Uncle. Nepotism really only gets you so far. You still have to have the qualifications to back up your claims. "My Uncle said to come write with you..." pfft.
3. It seems that since you cannot delve into your writing portfolio, because of the legality, you actually left the door wide open for my skepticism. You might want to note that we have song writing members here, whether parody or not, who have wrote for famous people and there isn't a single one of them who can't talk about it because of legality. The only legality I can see is that Gaga has never written her own stuff but makes those who do; sign, saying they will never tell anyone that she can't write... ::)

And how about this:
As a matter of fact, I do have a rather famous relative. One that would blow your bloody socks off. But I don't go around tooting my horn because I am related to him. What kind of person would I be by getting around on my famous relatives' name? Pathetic is what I would be.

As for shyt - read around.
And once you see Chucky has used it himself - you go right ahead and question him about it.

Boom.

but  its gunna get a good laugh from everyone on the board., who knows you may even laugh as well. When it happens

Who made the food? Is his dog jimmy not real? Can you please stop
I know who my family is and what they have done for me. Do I have to print my social Security number on here?  This is absurd
and laughable.

3) I cant talk about it because its ongoing, You don't know all of the details leaving you asking questions.
Gaga co writes some of her songs. You are incorrect. I am not trying to be mean Tam
but when someone is talking about something  they no nothing about  it angers me.
Until you work at my old job please do not ask questions that make no sense.
I don't think you understand how silly they seem. You have no idea what
you are talking about and you don't even knw what the trial is over or
the ramification involving it.
Please respect my wish not to talk about the legal subject at matter.

And how about this:          I never tooted anything someone was making a point in the forum and I said yeah when i worked in the music industry
and someone asked what I did.    I never tooted anything.  They asked. Ive been here since 2006 and posted under  a guest account until  2012.
