Good question.  Today when I was asking everyone else I just decided to make one.  I don't know why I waited.  :D

what current tv shows do you watch?
The only shows that I make sure to catch every episode of are The Walking Dead and Graceland.

what are some of your other fave tv shows?
Burn Notice.  I was sad that it ended.

besides Aliens (et al)  what other sci movies do you like?
The Fifth Element, Jurassic Park

what is your fave non alien movie?
I Know What You Did Last Summer, Scream, Resident Evil, Underworld, Zombieland, American Pie, The Sweetest Thing, Don't Tell Mom The Babysitter's Dead, She's All That, Jurassic Park... Those are some of my favorites.

I don't have a favorite episode or moment but my favorite season was probably #2.  One of my least favorite moments was when Andrea died.  I hated the way they made her fall for the Governor.  But she was always one of my favorite characters.  My current favorite is Daryl.

It's great to know another animal lover. So many of my friends are animal loves. :) I think marine life is beautiful, I'd like to know more about it myself, but I can't swim. LOL. But it's amazing how all the time someone will swim deeper and discover a new form of ocean life. It's a whole beautiful world swimming around. :)

However, my parents took a transatlantic cruise this past October, and they tell me that they enjoyed crossing the Atlantic Ocean. :)

Then one led to 2 which led to 3 and finally 4. Then my marriage ended and I got custody of all 4 cats and suddenly I became the "Crazy Cat Lady." lol. Now, we have 2 and I convinced my wonderful husband to get a 3rd one. My favorite TV show is The Walking Dead because I am a fan of zombie stuff.  Plus I love how it is a good mix of horror and drama.  It shows great character relationships that we don't normally see in the zombie or even other apocalyptic films.

My least favorite music is most of the stuff on the radio today, of most genres.  I'm a huge fan of 90's and 80's (especially 90's) music.  It was so much better than present music.  I've always favored Rock music.  Different kinds of rock.  Another genre I have always enjoyed is Electronica/Dance, especially the House music of the 90's.  My most favorite music is Alternative-Metal.

Ripley (Ellen Ripley) is the lead character of the Alien films.  She's a bad ass and I would love to be just like her! Since it's one of my favorite franchises and she is one of my favorite characters, also because I didn't know what else to call myself, I chose that name.

I'm not related to the Ripley guy.  :D

I can break a record for how many times I stub my toe or hit my arm on something in one day.  ;D

Alligator.  It was nasty!

What are some of your favorite cuisines?
I love pasta!  Alfredo with no meat is the best sauce.  Pizza.  Tacos with mild seasoning (I'm not a spicy food fan).  I like the TexMex ones.  I have tried authentic and I didn't like it.  Chili cheese burritos are good too.  I love homemade chicken and noodles.  My mom makes the noodles from scratch and it's amazing!  Roast with boiled potatoes, crockpot is the best way.  Bacon cheeseburgers and French fries with seasoning.

What food have you tried that u were surprised you liked it?
I can't think of anything off hand because I'm weary of trying new foods.  :P

Ah. The reason I asked is because if you wanted to watch two shows that were on simultaneously, you could use the DVR to record one of the shows (and watch it whenever you feel like) and watch the other show as it airs live! (Also, you can store plenty of programs on it, and delete them when you're done.)

Btw, what service provider do you have? Do they offer DVR's?

This would be a good option but before I never thought about it much.

Cox Communications.  They're expensive!  We have thought about trying a different company but it usually costs to transfer plus we would have to buy the boxes.  Maybe in the future though.  They do have DVRs but we just had to cut our bill down so I know it would bring it back up again, for buying the dvr at least.  But do you have to pay monthly to use it?

Ah; thanks for the update. :) Sorry to hear about losing your job, that must be frustrating. My dad was abruptly laid off from his job a few months ago, along with the rest of his staff, and that was a huge disappointment because he'd been working for the same company for 23 years, and he really enjoyed the work he was doing.

We've missed you here too.

Subject: Re: Ripley

Written By: nally on 02/28/15 at 5:20 pm

That's good. Similarly, my dad is trying to deal with his situation positively as well. For example, he is grateful to not have to commute long hours on the train each day (it was fine at first, since he didn't have to sit in traffic), but during the last year or two, it was starting to get very stressful, due to many delays occurring. He is especially grateful that he didn't have to be on the train this past Tuesday, as there was an early-morning crash on the tracks just a few short miles away from where we live. (No one was killed, thank goodness, but about half the people on that train got injured...and my dad might have been among those people if he were still commuting to downtown L.A. every day.)

I've been having a lot of things going on with my family. And I lost my job cause I was having problems. I've really been re-evaluating my life too. But I have missed this place a lot.
Sorry to hear about your loss of your job, but please do feel comfort for coming back to the boards, who knows you may be inspired?

I've always enjoyed song and story writing. Before I did it as a hobby but it would be nice to make something happen with it.

Good Luck.

As far as me and working, I have no Idea what I want to do.  Even if it's just volanter work.  Have I ever told anyone here that I had a medaloblastona brain tumor when I was 7?  My brain these days just seems to blank out a lot and things take me at least an hour or longer to do.  Try not to feel too sad about me though because I can still write parody's and do things I love doing.

If writing is what makes you happy keep doing it!  ;) I'm a writer myself.  I have tried in the past to make a career out of it.  I had given up but I've since learned not to give up on something you love.  Who knows, maybe one day I will make something of it and be a success.

Yes, the only thing that can break your heart is yourself if you let it. Never stop doing what you love.

I know you cook a lot, My mother made home-made egg salad and we ate it little by little and it just stayed there in the refrigerator for over a week, How long should you keep home-made egg salad in the refrigerator before it gets rancid?

I'm not sure about that one though I usually throw it out after two days just to be safe. But for the most part I make sweets/desserts. So I'm not the best person to ask. 😛

Ah yes, the days of TVs of that nature. I also have one that isn't flat screen; it's bulky and has a smaller picture screen (NOT of the HD aspect ratio).
It looks something like this: http://scene7.samsclub.com/is/image/samsclub/0002226527095_A?

I remember sets that looked like that!!

I see this one has knobs; no units are made like that anymore, that's for sure.

How could you use a remote for a TV that had knobs? Did it have a digital converter box or something to enable that purpose?

Hmm I'm not sure. All I remember is that it looked like the one in the pic but we had a remote. But since my memory is foggy, maybe it didn't have knobs lol I do remember a lot of things from childhood, but some details I'm not sure on.

My household had such a TV set prior to 1989. (Not that model; just a small Zenith.)

Favorite season?

I really like early spring. With warm showers. Sitting on the porch watching it, smelling it. And all the flowers. I use to always prefer fall/autumn with the chill in the air, the leaves and Halloween. I always will but now I favor spring the same.
