Subject: name that tune-ish...

Written By: langdon_hughes on 09/26/02 at 06:43 p.m.

I was actually going to post this on the 80's board, but the games here are always so far advanced by the time I show up I can never catch up. So I'm starting one. It's a guess-the-song by the lyrics, but the kicker is... it can't have words. At least not within the used quote. Why? 'Cause I need to know the name of this song and I don't have the words. (I do, however have the artist, so I'll know when I see a right answer.)

80's dance song, chorus goes

Bope bope bope bope bope
Bababa bup bope Bababa bup bope Bababa bup bope
...

<dripping water>
Buh bop bup bope. Buh bop bup bope. Buh bop bop bop bop...
Bababa bup bope Bababa bup bope etc.

Seriously. That's all the voice says. There's a "ba" a "bup" and a "bope". Okay I stink at games. It's by Art of Noise, and it's not "Legs." What the heck is this song? And by the way, I can think of others that could fit on this thread... maybe I'll just play this game by myself. Increase my measly post count. How did it get so low anyway?

Why, Langdon, you're brilliant. I can even tell that you agonized over how many o's go in the "Oooom.''

I'm gonna go with "Oh Yeah" by Yello.

You know, this really isn't a lot of fun anymore. Maybe some people shouldn't place their entire identities in knowing more than others.

Yeah, well maybe SOME people should keep a sense of humor and not make THEIR entire identities about contolling a situation.

I was going to say the "Peter Gunn Theme" since I heard it on one of my mixtapes driving home last night...but I can't place the dripping water.. but it does go bababa bup bope, boo boa boa boa boa....or something like that.

OK, for our sake let's just say I got it right.   Here's mine:

First of all, I want to thank you for the support and love you've shown me during my "episode". I'm back on my meds, they've adjusted the dosage and I'm fine, thanks. And Zella, I was vaguely remember being so enraged at myself that I wouldn't have noticed an earthquake! Sorry. But again, thank you.

Oh bugger bugger bugger bugger! I know that song! The guy who teaches arobics while I'm on the treadmill uses it in his class! Shoot shoot shoot shoot shoot. Those words come during a sort of stop in the music, right?

I really shouldn't get too excited about this, we all know what happened last time...

Hold down on the "Alt" key and then punch in "0252" on the keypad (NOT the keyboard).  This is what comes out:  ü.

Okay, I have the answer which I shall spill 'cause I have another one. It's "Beat Box" by Art of Noise.

Now, Tarzan Boy, think of one of "our" anthems, and tell me...

Bop bopbop
Bop
Bop bopbop
Bop
Bop bopbop
(Its' the same in the whole wide world)

Is it "Da Da Da (I Love You You Don't Love Me)" by Trio ???

There's a similar one that just popped into mind:

"Gonna Fly Now?"

And TB, is your phrase "meaningless" according to it's vocalizer?

I am stumped by Crazydon's song. The only other one I can think of is the instrumental part of Led Zep's "Fool In The Rain." You know, "... thun thun thunthun thun-thun..." I love that song!

It's from the 1970's.  If you've ever watched "Beavis & Butt-Head," you'll get it.

Ok, the answer was "Magic Carpet Ride" by Mighty Dub Katz (aka Fatboy Slim, Pizzaman, Norman Cook, the man of 1,000 aliases...)

Since chris didn't give up one to guess at, and I'm at home today, I'll pick one out of my library:

baybeebubaaay beebeebubaby....

(Hints: Freestyle track.  Hairspray likes this song.  And for you SoCal folk, something they might've played on Power 106 FM back in '88...)
