Subject: More worthless sports thread

Written By: Crazy Don on 02/15/03 at 08:11 a.m.

Because Zella is a woman and 98% of all women hate sports, let's start a new worthless sports thread.  You can talk about your soccer, cricket, baseball, football, basketball, hockey, auto racing, etc. here without angering Zella.

So there's this important soccer match in England today.  Continue!

The Daytona 500, the biggest event in NASCAR, is tomorrow!  Continue to talk about it!

That's why I started this new thread so you can talk about sports all you want!  Go ahead, be my guest!

Yep, my team lost the soccer match, unfortunately, but it was right that that was so. My local team, who play in the third division, are against Macclesfield, with an erratic recent run.

Speaking of racing...........I think I'm going to follow the Craftsman truck series this year. Its exciting got a good mix of vetrens and up and comers, and hasn't lost its "roots" like Winston Cup has. I used to be a die hard Cup fan but anymore, they've forgotten how they got to where they are. Used to go to 4 or 5 races a year but now, I wouldn't go to Bristol if you gave me a ticket. Now you guys that like the sport now as opposed to the "redneck southern days", go ahead and throw those rocks.........I'm ready.

Rock Throwing was a good sport in days gone past, Dude !

Qute Monty Python's "Life Of Brian" at the scene where the Messiah is about to be stoned...:

Right, who's here to attend the stoning ?

I am I am !

How many stones do you want then ?

I'll have three of those medium size rocks, and a packet of gravel please...

;D

It could make a comeback yet !  :P

Did I hear something about throwing rocks?

I think the ESPN Strongman competitions have an event like that...they're fun to watch :)

I just loved the added touch of "A packet of Gravel" - that tickles my funny bone !

And then of course John Cleese broke into the "Are there any women here today ?" bit  ;D

Hooray!  The Daytona 500 is today!  The greatest event in stock-car racing!

And speaking of the "ESPN Strongman" events, I always try to watch them if Phil Pfister is involved.  You see, he's a fireman in Charleston, WV…

Michael Waltrip won the 2003 Daytona 500, which was called after 109 laps due to rain.  Ryan Newman flipped his car and it landed on its roof, and he walked away unhurt!

Football season is over. The NFL will not play again until July. Oh well, just gotta cheer on my Penguins til then!

Too bad they're basically a farm club for the Caps :(  They need more financial support, or the league needs to get their bargaining agreement hammered down quick or it's the end of pro hockey in Pittsburgh :(

And it's also too bad the farm club always beats the Caps in the Stanley Cup playoffs. (Maybe not for J. Harvey.) Also too bad, the Sabres and Senators are just a few bad moves from exinction. :(

Worthless summer sport?

Subject: Re: More worthless sports thread

That's unmentionable summer sport. And... I guess not. Just checked a pile of stats. Although the USA aren't a recognized cricket playing team, the Canadians have got themselves a page, and have won one out of their three most recent games, the victory coming against NKOTB's Bangladesh.

The squad consists of:

Ashish Bagai
Ian Billcliff
Desmond Chumney
Austin Codrington
John Davison
Joseph Harris
Davis Joseph
Ishwar Maraj
Abdul Samad
Abdul Sattaur
Barry Seebaren
Sanjayan Thuraisingam
Nicholas de Groot

Hardly any of these kids have been playing for too long, not exactly a primary concern over there, methinks.
