Subject: Evergreen Terrace

Written By: philbo_baggins on 06/05/03 at 09:09 a.m.

Based on the same rules as Mornington Crescent, this is a variant set in Springfield... where the objective is to get to 742 Evergreen Terrace, home of The Simpsons.

If you're not sure of normal MC rules, don't worry: set in a fictional town, the majority of the rules don't apply - it's usually worth having a guess as very little is disallowed.  We can even allow transverse diagonals and the backwards shunt which would normally cause instant disqualification.

Since someone's got to start, I'll go to

Springfield Harbor

That's very good, Faye... didn't see the Observatory coming at all.  Hmm... lets try

Jittery Joe's Coffee Shop

Can anyone get out of that one, then?

Its nice to know that many moves that have been outlawed in MC are legal here  :D

I've always wanted to play a full Ruttsborough Rescission - so I will:

Legitmate Businessman's Social Club

Sending the legitmate businessmen to hold up the National Bank of Springfield (and calling the police - be prepared for crossfire in the area)

That's a bit of a forcing move... I find myself caught by the river, and have to go for:

The Museum of Sadness and Oppression

A bit of a weak move, I'll be the first to admit, but I'll hop across the river to

The Springfield Nuclear power plant

Watch out for old man Burns!

I don't really know the place but I can read a map so

Springfield Antiques

is my destination

But Karen, if you actually had to know the places you visit, the game would be seriously hampered.  As it is, geometrical progression inevitably states that the next move must be

I see now why it was made illegal....
I am in so much knip, and there's no simple shepherd's bush bifurcation to get out of it with; I found one bifurcation though:

Krusty Burger (Walnut Street) / Krusty Burger (Interstate)

With Crosslink placed on the Kwik-E-Mart

The only move I can see from here is sneaky, so forgive me but...

Not so fast!
I'm heading for the Burns Mansion.

From there, I'll take a left turn at The Kwik-E-Mart.

As Indy has kindly placed himself on the crosslink I put on the kwik-e-mart last time, I can slingshot around to

First Church of Springfield

increasing my speed astronomically - can anyone stop me now? (I rather hope they do, as otherwise I might end up flying off towards the harbour)

Okay, next stop, Dr. Julius Hibbert's clinic.

If a backtracking move is considered okay by American rules, then I will go to Springfield Elementery School...

Then I will skip to The Nuclear Power Plant (which maybe close to Burns' mansion.)

Meriadoc's backtracking having reversed the order of play, I think that makes it my turn, so I can move in for the kill:

From there, I'll go to Moe's Tavern for a Duff or two.

You got out of that one well, Karen: after all, invoking Caspar's Protocol was not a very, um, friendly thing to do; but if we're going through ghost locations, I guess it'll have to be:

Ouch, IG - no wonder nobody's posted anything after that: as well as being a boxing manoeuvre, you've cut off all but the obverse diagonal.  Pretty much the only follow-up to that one is the
