All you need to know about an inthe00s avatar ...
They can be a maximum of 100x100 pixels
If it's an animated avatar, it has to be 100x100 in pixels or less, otherwise it won't animate
Avatars can also be a maximum of (i believe) 530KB in size
To get a picture in your signature, simply link one through tags from a photo from some other website. It's always safer to link pics through places like photobucket, imageshack, geocities, etc ... that way they won't turn into RED X's or messages saying "This pic has been hotlinked and that is not allowed, etc ..."
