Funny thing, he can log into flashchat but when he tries to log into the forums he gets this neat little message that says he can't do that because he is BANNED!!!!! :o
Anyone have any idea why? Or if this is a glitch?

Hi guys! Thanks Chuck for sorting this out and letting me in again, and a very special thanks to Tam, Whistle and some others for helping... you've all been great. I don't quite understand what being on the same network with someone else means? Does it mean someone using my internet connection? I post from home so I can't see how that can be. I'm also in Malaysia so does that mean this 5.19.86 is in Malaysia too?

yes. he's on the same network as you, so trying to ban him ends up banning you as well.

ChuckyG, I dont know the story behind this banning, but have you tried doing a username ban instead of an IP ban? That way, it wouldnt effect this other guy. A username ban isnt a full ban, but when the guy seen that he was banned, he might not know that he could just create another name and get back on. Just a suggestion.

There have been many people who have been banned over the years who came back under a different name. One time we had a guy who came back about 5 or 6 times-each time under a different name. I really don't want to speak for Chucky but I think that is why he does the IP ban.

Yeah, I know about IP bans. I was a Global Moderator at a Guns N Roses forum, and I also had the ability to ban. Most of the time, when a ban is needed an IP ban is required. But in an instant where an IP ban interferes with another member, then a screen name ban might be a necessary move. I see what you mean about a troll coming back afte multiple IP bans. If someone is on AOL, AOL schuffles IPs, and it makes it very difficult to ban someone that is one of their subscribers.

Well I don't know what the situation is with the guy who he wanted to ban, but I hope it's okay.
