Subject: Slow Boards?

Written By: CatwomanofV on 12/16/11 at 6:24 pm

Is it just my computer or are the boards slow? No other site that I go to seem to be running slow but this one. This started about 2 or 3 days ago.

Is anyone else having this problem?

It occasionally gets bad for me, I somethings think it is me, can it be here?

been bad for me the past couple of days.  One of the main reasons I've been in the game room playing a game, don't have to wait for things to load while I'm playing.

It doesn't seem to happen when I use Chrome-only when I use Firefox. Very strange.

Slowness on both Google Chrome and Firefox.

Internet Explorer is much faster then firefox right now. It doesnt loop long if it loops.  the firefox looping is not just these boards, I've been trying to do some stuff over at my photobucket.

I am on Firefox and having no problems at all

I haven't noticed a problem from home, and I've got all kinds of stuff downloading at the same time.  may be caused by things like the big boards image not loading at the bottom of the page, or people's images loading from slow sites preventing a page from loading properly.

Yeah, I've noticed that the BigBoards image fails to load a lot lately. Phil and Howard often notice it too, since we all contribute to the BigBoards Rank thread. And that often results from the BigBoards website server being down... but that shouldn't have any effect on this site.

And by the way, there has been no slowness on my end, either.

Some browsers have a hard time rendering a page if an image is located at a certain part of the html. I put the image in a spot so that shouldn't be an issue.  There's also a google analytic code as well (I think?) which is a remote script and might cause issues.

could various servers become slower if the whole world were using them, or do I just have a silly idea?  That's what I was thinking earlier.  Some people are saying they didn't have a problem with Firefox, but I'm on Internet Explorer still.

That is what I have been thinking. Even Google crashed when Michael Jackson died.

Sometimes there is a message saying "waiting for big boards" but others will just say "waiting for inthe00s." Like I said, this is something that just started probably about 4 days ago or so.

nothing at all sadly.

look at the very bottom of a page and it says something like this: Page created in 0.056 seconds with 14 queries.

If it's ever a second or longer, than it's something with the site.  If it's not, then it's something with your connection to the site. It could very well be the place I'm hosting it at (they moved the server last month to a new location), or it might just be the ISP you are using.

Sometimes when it goes slow, the slowness hangs on for a few minutes, but all is well soon enough afterwards.

Yes, but some people still don't seem to care. I think we should set a limit at two embeddings per post. (And if quoting a reply containing even one Youtube embedding, take out the videos. I do this all the time.)

Me too, Dude. That's why I have developed a habit of just putting the youtube URL in the post, that way it shows up as a link that can be clicked on.
