inthe00s.com needs to have reCAPTCHA or a system like it for when you're registering so that the spam bots will be weeded out. The number of spammers in recent days is too much and it needs to be stopped. Why hasn't there been a reCAPTCHA or system like it been implemented for registering? ???

Oh, that's why websites have those things!  ;D  ;D  :P

It all makes sense now.

Yeah, this site has had a lot of spam and things the past week, way too much!

You should ask ChuckyG that question, since he's the one who runs this website. But we really do need a system like that since the spam makes this forum less interesting.

Once the admin sees this, he'll implant the feature a sooner eventually.

Its good that you put this out there.

Yep, I proposed this and a few other ideas in the "Why is there so many spam?" thread. When bots usually run into a problem, they stop and go elsewhere. It's too much work for such little reward. At the moment, inthe00s is that "elsewhere". There is nothing stopping bots, it's very little effort, and a lot of reward for posting in a forum that receives 500,000 page views a month. Having to complete a CAPTCHA for just the first 15 posts would go a long way, without harming the user experience of long time users.

They get money from stealing personal information, by installing viruses onto your computer when you click the links. Or there might be some other way they get money. It's always money.

Hopefully, this gets implemented.

I know right. This system or something like it definitely needs to be implemented.

Good...you were already on it. That system you described also sounds good. All in all, there needs to be something in place to stop or limit spam.

I strongly agree with this. There are also plenty of bots that have been registering in recent years. They don't post anything, but they log in long enough to update their profile with spamalicious information. They're probably from random places in the world.

Case in point, this one: http://www.inthe00s.com/index.php?action=profile;u=21860

And there are other wacky monikers by users that have never logged in, such as this one: http://www.inthe00s.com/index.php?action=profile;u=19565

I agree it needs to be issued.

Yeah, it's ridiculous. It must be stopped.

Absolutely 100%.

It's only been ten days since this thread was created, and now we have another spammard that has hit us up: http://www.inthe00s.com/index.php?action=profile;u=22424

I reported him to Chucky already. We seriously need to upgrade/improve the CAPTCHA on here.

But the account has to be banned anyway because it is a spam user, and we have a zero-tolerance policy for that.

Another one has been spotted: http://www.inthe00s.com/index.php?action=profile;u=22188

The more spammage I see by these morons, the more I wish for this captcha thing to be upgraded, as suggested earlier.

reCAPTCHA is easily broken, because it's used in so many places people focus on breaking it all the time.
