I was just about to post this, too. I was watching a Britney Spears thing on E! when I heard.

I know I've heard her name before, but I'm not familiar with her songs, except that stupid "How Am I Supposed to Live without You" with Michael Bolton.  :P

But anybody who can pull off Janis Joplin the way people said she did is worthy of recognition. Now, she gets to meet the real Janis Joplin,  :\'( as well as Jimi Hendrix, Abraham Lincoln, John Ritter, Keith Moon, Bon Scott, John Entwhistle, Brian Jones, Mama Cass, George Washington, Donald Pleasence, Rick James, Erik Braunn (Iron Butterfly - "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida"), and the two dead bailiffs from Night Court (Selma Diamond and Florence Halop) and not be able to tell the two apart.

RIP  :\'(

Hmmm...

The night
Spanish Eddie cashed it in
they were playin' "Desolation Row"
on the radio

I got in the car to come to work this morning and turnd on the radio - and it was right in the middle of Gloria! Maybe someone else was feeling nostalgic...

My uncle died at age 44 in 1999 of liver disease; if he were still alive he'd be 50 next month. He never took care of himself. >:( He spent the last month of his life in a convalescent hospital.

Anyway, I was shocked yesterday when I signed online and found out that Ms. Branigan had checked out. When her two biggest hits, "Gloria" and "Self Control", were popular, I was real little so I didn't know 'em real well. But now I know and love both songs.
