He was one of the founders of Atlantic Records way back in the 1940's...

Atlantic primarily started as a RnB label, but eventually crossed into the jazz and pop markets with incredible success...

He's certainly one of the unsung heroes of what eventually became rock and roll...RIP...

One cannot be called an aficianado of modern music without knowing who Ahmet Ertegun was.  His ear for talent was exceptional and many a musician is mourning his loss.

Wow this news sux.  Ahmet was the man.  His incluence in R&B and rock is simply IMMENSE.

He also used to produce records under the pseudonym Nugetre  (Ergetun spelles backwards).
