Subject: Comedic Actor Bernie Mac Dead at Fifty

Written By: 80sTrivMeister on 08/09/08 at 8:34 am

I was shocked to hear that comedic actor Bernie Mac (of his self-titled Fox sitcom) has died at the age of fifty. He was also in the recent Charlie's Angels films:

Ohhhhh Maaaaaan! This sucks!  I loved his show, I liked his stand up, he could be a bit much sometimes, but he was a comedian.  This is just not right...    :\'(

I heard this news on the radio about 30 minutes into BBC Radio 1's Request Show with Reggie Yates. As soon as I heard that Bernie Mac had starred in 'Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle' (one of my favourite movies), I knew who he was. I'll never forget his mention in Christina Aguilera's 'Dirrty.'

RIP Bernie. You made a brilliant boss for the Angels in 'Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle.'  :\'(

Aw I really liked Bernie Mac.  He will be missed in my house. I think I'll go home and pop in season one of the B. Mac show in tribute.

This was a total shock to me, and tears came to my eyes as I read the article.
I thought Bernie was such a cool guy, so funny just being interviewed by Jay or Conan, because his stories were laughable, but very relatable. My favorite of Bernie's work was certainly the Ocean's movies, and I was disappointed when George stated the series was finished. Now I don't think I would want to see any more made without Frank/Ramone.

Losing George Carlin was bad enough, but Bernie... they may say Heaven got funnier, but Earth is just that much more sad without him.

Your Pal,
Doc

Rest in peace, Bernie.  You will be missed.

I first saw him in "Don't Be A Menace..." and most recently in "Transformers". Always liked his movie acting. He'll be missed.

Bernie was the Mac Daddy of hip comedians.  At least he went out in style, what with his show at the Obama rally a month or so ago.  You always got your money's worth at a Mac show.

RIP Bernie... You did it right...  :)

Bernie Mac was always one of the people who you could relate to, you knew where he came from and his stories and comedy was that much funnier because of that.

Sad day, anytime we lose someone that can make us laugh, we lose so much more than just a comedian...

Rest in peace Bernie. :\'(

Bernie Mac was still young. I enjoyed him as a Baseball player headed for the Hall Of Fame in the movie Mr 3000 but I really loved his stand up comedy routines, he made me laugh and I will miss him  :(

^  never did see Mr. 3000, but always wanted to.  Think I'll head to the video store and pick up a copy

I heard a rumor there was going to be a Ocean's 14, but without Bernie Mac, it wouldn't be the same.

Here's a recent picture of Bernie Mac and Issac Hayes together... seems kind of strange, even though there's nothing that odd about it (they were both in the new Soul Movie)

Yesterday as we were driving to Indiana, we had to stop in traffic near 115th street.  The traffic was due to everyone going to the memorial for Bernie Mac at the House of Hope megachurch on the South Side.  It was PACKED.  I later learned that there was a little over 6000 people there.  I was going to brave the crowds and go (it was open to the public and his fans), but thought better of it.

As we were coming back from Indiana, the traffic was backed up on the other side and the cops had a lot of exits blocked so that the family could leave.  We were behind their limo (this was on the interstate) for a bit, but I'm glad they were able to leave quickly and head to wherever they were going, poor dears. :\'(
