Chicago literary fixture Studs Terkel bit it today, he was 96 years old.

All the old Chicago elder statesmen of the media are now gone...

Mike Royko, Irv Kupcinet, Harry Carey, and now Studs.  :\'(

Gosh!  I thought Mr. Terkel had already left us.  He was a good egg with his fondness for history, jazz, and populism.  I wish we had more folks like Studs!

His book "The Good War" should be kept on every library shelf next to Brokaw's "The Greatest Generation" just to keep reality in check!
