Subject: Oscar Mayer at 95

Written By: danootaandme on 07/09/09 at 6:50 am

I didn't know there was a guy named Oscar Mayer.  Remember the song

I wish I was an Oscar Mayer Weiner,  how could you live with those jokes?  ;D

RIP Oscar, you must have had a good sense of humor.

Oscar Mayer | Meat company scion, 95

Oscar G. Mayer, 95, retired chairman of the Wisconsin-based meat-processing company that bears his name, has died.

Mr. Mayer's wife, Geraldine, said he died of old age Monday at Hospice Care in Fitchburg, Wis.

He was the third Oscar Mayer in the family that founded Oscar Mayer Foods, which was once the largest private employer in Madison. His grandfather, Oscar F. Mayer, died in 1955 and his father, Oscar G. Mayer Sr., died in 1965.

Mr. Mayer retired as chairman of the board in 1977 at age 62, soon after the company recorded its first $1 billion year. The company was later sold to General Foods and is now a business unit of Kraft.

I read an article yesterday where Mr. Mayer specifically requested that the Weinermobile NOT show up at his funeral.

Apparently other members of the Mayer family were honored by an appearance of the famous car in previous years.

Wow... if I ever had the chance to have the weinermobile show up at my funeral, that would be soooooooooooo cool.  :)

My bologna has a first name, it's O-S-C-A-R.
My bologna has a second name, it's M-A-Y-E-R.
Oh, I love to eat it everyday and if you ask me why I'll say
'Cause Oscar Mayer has a way with B-O-L-O-G-N-A.

How's that?

RIP Oscar.

If I was Mr. Mayer, I would have called for it in my will.  I'd be buried in the wienermobile!

He filled many a stomach!

At his funeral, someone had to turn him over every few minutes to be evenly venerated.  :o
