He'll really missed (but probably not by Johnny Rotten!  ;D)

Rest in peace, Malcolm, you old sodding bastard!

Update:

Johnny eventually made a statement, about his death.

“For me Malc was always entertaining, and I hope you remember that. Above all else he was an entertainer and I will miss him, and so should you.”

I liked McLaren, and I will miss him.  He was a one hit wonder in Canada with the 1984 classic 'Madame Butterfly', which to me was one of the greatest songs of 1984 ...

He also wrote and produced the classic 'Hey DJ' by World Famous Supreme Team, a song that any dance fan will know ...

I heard about McLaren from a friend of mine this afternoon.  Malcolm had mesothelioma, cancer of the linings of body cavities.  It's usually associated with asbestos toxicity.  Anyway, I doubt the public will fully appreciate his influence on post-sixties pop music.

All Mclaren proteges.

R.I.P. Malcolm.

I listened to "Double Dutch" and "Madame Butterfly" as a memorial today.

According to his business partner, asbestos exposure from his store in the 70's, may have lead up to his death.

That might indeed explain it.  It can take decades after exposure for full-blown cancer to develop.  Asbestos awareness didn't really start until the early '80s.

He went to the studio, but forgot to check it,
Got the long-term exposure to the bad-ass bestos,
Didn't wear no mask, thought it was copacetic,
Got into his lungs, was carcinogenic,
While he was tearin' it up, about a quarter to three,
God said "Who's comin' to heaven?"
He said, "Yeah, me!"
  - With apologies to Malcolm's epic one-liner from  Romeo and Juliet, from 1990's Round the Outside.

RIP, Malcolm.  Shakespeare, harpsichord, and old-school hip-hop genius, all rolled into one.
