Any kid growing up in the Burgh during the 60's knew of Matty Alou, the awesome batter for the Pirates, who won the 1966 batting title with an incredible .342 average.

Matty was one of the three Alou Brothers (along with Jesus and Felipe) and at one point in 1963, the three brothers were the entire outfield for the San Francisco Giants.  8)

RIP Matty.  From one of the kids who watched you play in Forbes Field, thanks for all the sports excitement.  :)

WOW!  I remember watching the Alou brothers.  Sad day, very sad day.  :\'(

Yes, it sure is sad when a great baseball family loses one of its members. :\'(

I knew about Felipe the most, since he went on to become a great baseball manager during the 1990s and 2000s for the Montreal Expos and the San Francisco Giants. Felipe's son Moises played for his father on both teams for a few years.
