Subject: Former MLB catcher Gary Carter has died at age 57

Written By: nally on 02/17/12 at 6:45 pm

Gary Carter, a baseball catcher who played for 19 total seasons in the majors, mostly with the Montreal Expos, passed away yesterday after a battle with a brain tumor. He was 57.

Carter spent the first 11 seasons with the Expos before joining the New York Mets for five seasons beginning in 1985. His clutch hit in Game 6 of the 1986 World Series started a rally for the Mets to eventually win that series. He then spent a single season with the San Francisco Giants (1990) and one with the L.A. Dodgers (1991) before returning to the Expos in 1992, where he ended his career.

In 2003 he was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame, the first as a member of the Montreal Expos franchise.

Full story can be found at this link. RIP Gary; you will be greatly missed.
