The Monkees were fantastic.  Remember their mid 80s comeback with "That Was Then, This Is Now"?  They will be forever remembered.

I just read this.  :\'( :\'( :\'( :\'(

I met him a long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. My mother worked at a theatre and he was starring in the play at the time. My mother introduced me and he asked me a question and it was the first time in my life I was speechless.  :D ;D ;D ;D  There was a cast party at our house & he was supposed to come. But didn't make it.  :\'( :\'( :\'(  That would have been SOOOO COOL to say that Davy Jones came to my house. (But, Mary Jo Catlett-Pearl from Diff'rent Strokes) did make it to that party.

Trivia: He was on the Ed Sullivan show the same show that the Beatles were first on as part of the cast of Oliver-he played the Artful Dodger.

It is so SAD!  :\'( :\'( :\'( :\'( :\'( :\'( :\'(

I'm not a believer, either. Still, if this is true, it's quite sad.  :(

I liked The Monkees. DJ didn't look unfit either (if that was a recent pic).  I guess his number was up....  :\'(

This song's pretty white (Zappa's words, not mine)  but it's a good showcase of Davy Jones's talent.

So sad.  I love the Monkees and although Mickey is my favorite, I loved them all.  So sad, he was too young.  Rest in Peace, Davy.  You most definitely will be missed.

I guess the six o'clock alarm will never ring again. I can't really call myself a fan, but I'm always sorry to see a life end so suddenly, and too soon. RIP, Mr. Jones.

Your Pal,
Doc

Not only was Davy a teenage heartthrob, but he was also a dance innovator.  He invented that crab dance that was later copied by Steven Tyler of Aerosmith and Axl Rose of Guns 'n' Roses.  8)

I've been scouring the web for one of those cool drawings that portray Davy Jones ascending into heaven, but so far there are not any out there.  What's up with that? ???

I heard the news at about 6:00 this morning.  I feel the loss as a lifelong Monkees fan.  We had their records and we watched the show whenever we could.  It would be great if TVLand could run the series again in Jones' honor.

There's a little less fun in the world today.

I have a fond memory of listening to this song on my sister's record player on a warm summer afternoon after swimming at the lake.

up until about 7 years ago,I was under the impression that Davy Jones was my uncle because one of my mothers cousins went to the UK and married "davy Jones". her and my dad went to the UK about 7 years ago and went to catch up with family.......including her cousin, but mum told me that it wasnt "the davy jones" but a namesake.
Anyway I was saddened by his death when I heard about it.......my favourite song is Daydream believer and I hope the Jones family are coping...........RIP Davy Jones.

My first real concert was Davy Jones, The Tokens and Gary Puckett.  Hearing Davy sing Daydream Believer was one of the biggest thrills of my life.  I did a 10 hour Monkees Marathon in his honor.  RIP Manchester Cowboy. :\'(
