Subject: 'Goober' from The Andy Griffith Show goes to Hillbilly Heaven

Written By: Indy Gent on 05/06/12 at 12:11 pm

George Lindsey, best known as Goober Pyle on The Andy Griffith Show, died at his home in Nashville after a brief illness. He was 83. Lindsey continued his Goober act in "Mayberry RFD" (when Andy Griffith left the series) and the "Hee Haw" variety series. He will certainly be missed.

RIP, George... Thanks for all the laughs and good times.  :)

The Andy Griffith Show is another one of those shows where the cast seems to be disappearing all too soon.  Don Knotts (Barney Fife), Jack Dodson (Howard Sprague),  Howard McNear (Floyd the barber), Frances Bavier (Aunt Bee), Aneta Corseaut (Helen Crump, Aneta also starred with Steve McQueen in the classic film "The Blob")  :-*, Howard Morris (Ernest T. Bass), Hal Smith (Otis the Drunk), Hope summers (Clara Edwards) and likely a few more have passed on.  At this point if they did another reunion show, only Andy, Opie, and Gomer Pyle would be available.  :-\\

And Jim Nabors is going to have heart valve surgury and will miss the Indy 500. Let's hope he pulls through.

They're going to play his version of "Back Home in Indiana" via tape recording this year.  8)

He's a pretty tough bird... he got a liver transplant back in '94.  :)

Wow I almost forgot about Jim Nabors, I thought he had passed away years ago.
