Subject: Charles Durning Passes Away

Written By: LyricBoy on 12/25/12 at 10:55 am

Just saw that legendary actor of stage and screen, Charles Durning passed away.

Like the recently-deceased Larry King, he was in the "Best Little Wh@rehouse in Texas" movie. (King was playwright for the original production ).

Seems that movie was cursed. King, Noah Beery Jr, Lois Nettleton, Theresa Merritt, Howard K Smith, Dom Deluise, and now Mr Durning are all gone.  :-\\

So sad.  One of the articles I read talked about his military service.  I had no idea.  He is going to be buried at Arlington.

Rest in Peace, Mr. Durning.  :(

I didn't care too much for that movie-don't know why but that scene I always thought was FABULOUS!!!

I always liked him.

It's his delivery of the it... I never noticed it until today but he was really having fun... those little hops he gives and that smile when he talks about dancing a little sidestep... I don't think that was acting I think he was truly enjoying himself!

I love the flick!  ;D

One of my favourite Charles Durning moments was in an episode of 'Evening Shade' where he faked a weight loss to get a mention from Richard Simmons, but then Simmons decides to pay a visit.

He was a great actor.  R.I.P. :(

People used to confuse him with Brian Dennehy.

No, that's Brian Keith. He passed away June of 1997.

So sad, I the film I remember best is a little known film from 1977 "Twilight's Last Gleaming" when he played President David Stevens.

Awesome flick.  I remember when that came out, it had a star studded cast:

Roscoe Lee Brown
Burt Lancaster
Richard Widmark
Paul Winfield
Glenn Beck
John Ratzenberger
Burt Young

This flick is sometimes confused with the Powers Boothe thriller "By Dawn's Early Light" which was also about nuclear war.  8)
