Legendary short track racer Dick Trickle passed away today at the age of 71.
Trickle's hard-partying ways, cigarette smoking and frequent coffee drinking were all part of his larger-than-life persona, in addition to his NASCAR racing successes.

Sad day in motor sports. Dick Trickle was one of my favorite drivers, his #90 Helig-Myers diecast car
sits on a shelf in my room, right next to an autographed hat. Sad day indeed.

Dick Trickle was so old school that he drilled a hole in the front of his full-faced helmet so he could stick a cigarette inside and have a smoke whenever the race was under caution.
RIP Dick Trickle, American badass. 8)

Funny I don't remember hearing about this till I read any email from SB Nation about his suicide and how he even called the dispatcher to inform them where the body would be. You lived a hard life so R.I.P :\'(
