Subject: Voice actress Christine Cavanaugh (Dexter, Chuckie, Oblina. Babe) dies

Written By: ChrisBodilyTM on 12/30/14 at 6:29 pm

You may remember her as Chuckie Finster from Rugrats. Or as boy genius, Dexter ("Dee Dee, get out of my la-bor-a-tory!"). Or as Babe the Pig. Or even as umbrella-shaped monster Oblina from AAAHH!!! Real Monsters. Or perhaps as Jay Sherman's son or as Darkwing Duck's daughter, Gosalyn.

Either way, she was a huge part of every 90s kid's childhood. For every Rob Paulsen, Charlie Adler, Billy West, Tom Kenny, Mr. Lawrence, E.G. Daily, and Jeff Bennett, there was one Christina Cavanaugh. This was a golden age for cartoon voice actors.

A week ago, December 22, after years away from the limelight, Christine Cavanaugh has died at the age of 51. Her legendary raspy voice has been silenced.

What a tough way to end the year. Joe Cocker (the figurative, and perhaps literal, voice of a generation) and now Christine Cavanaugh (the literal voice of my generation).

RIP Christina, Chuckie, Oblina, Dexter, and Babe.
