Subject: Leonard Nimoy, a.k.a. Mr. Spock, Lived Long And Prospered, until today...

For once, I find it very hard to say anything. Scotty can no longer beam him up, McCoy cannot call Kirk to say "He's dead, Jim". Perhaps, now with Spock exploring undiscovered country, all I can say is this:

Rip Mr. Nimoy.  :\'(

I'd  still like to see a reunion episode of Star Trek, with Kirk, Uhura, Checkoff, and Zulu. It's not too late for that.

I consider myself a Trekkie-but not a fanatic. (We are watching DS9 right now). This makes me sad but as several have already said, he lived long and perspired prospered.

I hear his voice frequently because he does the narration on the game of Civilization IV that Carlos plays all the time.

He will be missed.  :\'( :\'( :\'( :\'(

"We are assembled here today to pay final respects to our honored dead. And yet it should be noted, in the midst of our sorrow, this death takes place in the shadow of new life, the sunrise of a new world; a world that our beloved comrade gave his life to protect and nourish. He did not feel this sacrifice a vain or empty one, and we will not debate his profound wisdom at these proceedings. Of my friend, I can only say this: Of all the souls I have encountered in my travels, his was the most.... human"
— Admiral James T. Kirk (William Shatner), Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan

I wonder if he will be buried in one of those cool-looking sleek black coffins like Spock was in that Star Trek movie? ???

Star Trek actor Leonard Nimoy has been buried in Los Angeles in a small, private funeral.

Nimoy, 83, died on Friday of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, which is often caused by smoking.

It is Jewish tradition for the dead to be buried within 24 hours but, as the practice is forbidden on a Saturday, the actor was laid to rest at 09:00 PST (17:00 GMT) on Sunday.

However, his Star Trek co-star William Shatner was unable to attend.

"I feel really awful," tweeted the actor, who was committed to attend a Red Cross ball in Florida on Saturday night and could not fly back in time for the service.

"Here I am doing charity work and one of my dearest friends is being buried."

William Shatner isn't looking that good these days. I just learned that the two of them were born 4 days apart.

The media has dubbed William Shatner as Captain Jerk because he couldn't attend Leonard's funeral.  I mean how insensitive is that?

Maybe his charity work could've waited?  ???

I don't fault Bill for not attending the funeral. Funerals are for the living. Some people can't handle funerals. But, in this case, he felt that helping others who are alive was more important than going to something for someone who is dead.

I have called him Captain Jerk for years for a lot of things but this wouldn't be one of them.

Foo: RIP, Mr. Nimoy.  Your contributions to our cultural distinctiveness will be missed.
Spock: Do not grieve, Foo.  It is logical.  The needs of the 00ze outweigh the needs of the one.
