Subject: Dean Jones (60s Disney legend) dies

Legendary 60s Disney star Dean Jones -- best known for The Love Bug, That Darn Cat, and The Shaggy D.A. -- has died. He was 84 and suffered from Parkinson's.

He also had a memorable role as the villain vet in Beethoven, starring Charles Grodin.

Correction: He was in the 1995 Kirk Cameron remake of The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes, not the Kurt Russell original.

Rumor has it that he will lie in state at Disneyland's Castle, and his casket will be carried(well, towed at least) up Main Street U.S.A. by Herbie The Love Bug himself. I think DJ would like that.
The last thing I recall seeing him in is a cameo talking with Harrison Ford in 1994's Clear And Present Danger, which thankfully erased the memory of that dreadful villain role in Beethoven. That movie stunk.
You were an integral part of my Disney-fied childhood, DJ. You will be truly missed.

Your Pal,
Doc

So sad. I saw him on stage in 1776. The play that is, not the year. It was 1972 when I saw him.

(Not my program-lost mine but my sister still has hers. This isn't hers either.)

It was seeing this play when I was a kid that got me interested in my life long love of history. 1776 is one of my all-time favorite plays/movies.

I will also think of him as Bobby in Company.

I have a special spot in my heart for Company, too. When I did summer stock as a teen, we did Company. Not only did I work backstage on props, I was also "production assistant." In other words, I was the gofer for the stage manager.  ;D

So, Dean Jones has touched two aspects of my life that I hold very dearly. I will always hold a special place in my heart for him because of this.

So sad to see him go. :\'( :\'( Such a great actor with great talent.

I remember that film. So unlike most of his other film roles.
