American baseball legend Yogi Berra, said to have inspired the cartoon character Yogi Bear, has died at the age of 90.

As sad as it is, he was 90 and lived a long life.
Yogi was a very unique individual. His quotes will live on and even created a new word in the dictionary: Yogisms.

This comes as a total shock to me. Not that I've ever been a Yankees fan, but Yogi was just one of those larger-than-life figures that you never even imagine not being there. Heaven knows, the inscription on his tombstone isn't gonna make any sense, unless it simply says "NOW, IT'S OVER." His most famous line "It ain't over 'til it's over", simply means don't start celebrating until the victory's in the bag. But don't ask me to explain any of the others! I can almost see tomorrow's New York Post headline... "GOD TO YOGI: I'M CALLIN'YOU UP!"
Whether someone loves or hates the Yankees, it doesn't matter. Yogi will be missed by all of America.

Aha! I thought that's how the cartoon character got his name!
I'm not even a Yankee fan, but RIP Yogi. :\'( He was a true american sports icon!!
Nor am I, but you're right, he was a true icon, and he will be greatly missed. :\'(
