Yorkshire president John Hampshire has died, aged 76, after a long illness. The former Yorkshire and England batsman and international umpire scored 21,979 runs for the Headingley club. He was part of the White Rose side that won three successive County Championships between 1966 and 1968 and skippered the team in 1979 and 1980. Hampshire also became the first England player to score a century on their Test debut at Lord's when he hit 107 against the West Indies in 1969.
