Written By: Philip Eno on 03/20/17 at 5:00 am

Former Tour de France winner Roger Pingeon has died at the age of 76. The French rider conquered the Grand Tour in 1967 and was second in 1969. The Frenchman died in his house in Ain, France. "Pingeon died this morning at 04h00 (03h00 GMT) of a cardiac arrest," said Georges Gouly, mayor of Beaupont (Ain), to the French Press Agency AFP. "He was a very humble man, who had integrated very well into the life in the small town. This year we were going to celebrate the 50th anniversary of his victory at the Tour de France," added Gouly.
