Subject: George Young (Easybeats, AC/DC) dies

Written By: ChrisBodilyTM on 10/23/17 at 5:36 am

Easybeats rhythm guitarist-songwriter, AC/DC producer, and Angus and Malcom's older brother, George Young, has died at the age of 70. The cause of death is currently unknown and the Youngs are asking for privacy.

The AC/DC story begins with The Easybeats. The Aussie band is perhaps best known for "Friday on My Mind," written by George Young and lead guitarist Harry Vanda, perhaps the Lennon-McCartney of Australian pop-rock.

Young and Vanda (and sometimes Young himself) would go on to produce many of AC/DC's classic albums (Highway to Hell, Back in Black, and For Those About to Rock We Salute You were produced by Mutt Lange; Ballbreaker was produced by Rick Rubin).

The end of an era. RIP George.  :\'(

So sad when a singer of a classic son dies.
