Legendary home/multilevel sales pioneer (and multi billionaire) Richard DeVos passed away today. If his name seems unfamiliar, he's the founder of Amway, whose products made him a fortune. 8)

Isn't Amway generally thought of as a pyramid scheme of sorts?

It ultimately was ruled to NOT be a pyramid scheme because:
A seller cannot be forced to keep (i.e. Pay for) unsold inventory so long as they return it.
Higher-level distributors have to maintain a certain level of their own direct sales, or they get kicked out.
