Subject: Robert "Hurricane" Hunt Leaves the Ring

Legendary "Studio Wrestling" great, Robert "Hurricane" Hunt, has passed away in Picksburgh at the age of 85.  :\'(

In the 1960's and early 70's, Hurricane wrestled in the storied Studio Wrestling production in Pittsburgh, grappling against greats like Bruno Sammartino, The Sicilians (managed by Captain Lou Albano), Haystacks Calhoun, George "The Animal" Steele, Domenic Denucci, and countless others. His signature move was the drop kick.  :o

'Cane was a regular Joe, who worked at an iron yard during the week and wrestled on WIIC-TV on Saturday nights.  In his day he was one of very few black studio wrestlers. The action was called by horror show legend Bill "Chilly Billy" Cardille, and Picksburgh Pirate hall of fame third baseman, Pie Traynor.  On most nights, "Ringside Rosie", one of the local wrestling fans, would watch the action from her front row seat, and wave her legendary rubber chicken at whoever she deemed to be the bad guy in the ring. ;D  You just don't get locally produced programming like that anymore.  :-\\

Hurricane was eulogized in a press release by Allegheny County Council President "Jumping" Johnny Defazio, who also squared off against 'Cane in the ring, back in the day.  8)

RIP Mr. Hunt. :\'(  Thanks for the Saturday night action memories.  :)

So Why didn't WWF sign him?

Do you think he would've worked well with today's competition such as Shinsuke Nakamura, Rusev or AJ Styles? ???

I think he would have kicked their butts. Especially if Bruno was his tag team partner.
