Beat me to it.

Goodbye, Dolly. I'll always remember her on Space Ghost: Coat to Coast.

I'm sorry to hear this. In the 60s and 70s she was EVERYWHERE. Every talk show, every game show, every variety show (variety shows themselves now being a thing of the past). Part of her appeal was that despite her somewhat "ditzy" image, one always got the impression she was much smarter and shrewder than she let on. As if she was winking to the audience. A true mid-century star.

I ALWAYS loved her. Because of her, I was dubbed with my first nickname, "Dolly." When I was a toddler, I would stand in front of the record player and say, "Dolly, Dolly, Dolly." Until someone put Hello Dolly on.

I also loved her in Thoroughly Modern Millie.

Among her other accomplishments, Carol Channing was the first ever solo performer to appear at a Superbowl halftime show. She appeared at Superbowl IV in 1970. Halftimes at the previous three Superbowls featured only marching bands. Channing returned to perform at Superbowl VI in 1972. Halftime shows were different in those days.
