M*A*S*H theme song composer Johnny Mandel has passed away at the age of 94. :\'(

Amongst his various compositions were several songs in the Caddyshack sound track. 8)

Another sad loss to the music industry.
He also wrote numerous film scores, including the score of The Sandpiper. The love theme for that film, "The Shadow of Your Smile", which he co-wrote with Paul Francis Webster, won the 1965 Academy Award for Best Original Song and the Grammy Award for Song of the Year in 1966.

The title of the M*A*S*H theme song is "Suicide Is Painless", believe it or not. It actually had lyrics in the original movie and was meant to be a kind of satirical thing, but it was decided for the TV show it would be wiser if it was left as an instrumental.
