Subject: Final Deliverance for Ned Beatty
Written By: LyricBoy on 06/13/21 at 6:02 pm

Pioneering film actor Ned Beatty, who made a big splash in 1972, in his first film role in the hit movie Deliverance, has passed away at the age of 83.  :\'(

He also went in to play a major role (Lex Luthor) in the Superman movies.
Why he did not get an Oscar for his performance in Deliverance is a mystery to this day. Dude got robbed…

Now are now down to one survivor each for Deliverance (Jon Voight) and Superman (Gene Hackman). RIP, Mr. Beatty. :\'(
Correction: on Superman: Valerie Perrine is still alive, and I might be missing others.

The lovely Valerie Perrine :-* (she played the main henchwoman of Lex Luthor) is still on our side of the grass.  :)

Superman correction: Beatty played Otis. Gene Hackman played Luthor.
Still alive from Superman:
Hackman
Marc McClure (Jimmy Olsen; recently had a cameo as a cop in Zack Snyder's Justice League)
Jeff East (Young Clark Kent)
Jack O'Halloran (Non)
Valerie Perron (Eve)
Terence Stamp (Zod)
Sarah Douglas (Ursa)
Still alive from Deliverance:
Ronny Cox
Jon Voight (who you could argue is dead politically/career-wise/in the brain)
Herbert "Cowboy" Coward (The Toothless Man)
Billy Redden (The banjo player)

I thought he died a couple of years back, that just shows my age.

R.I.P. Ned; he had quite a career.
Apparently he was NOT related to fellow film actor and director Warren Beatty, who was also born in 1937 (that guy is still alive).
