John Langley, producer and creator of the legendary reality show Cops, has passed away at the age of 78 whilst competing in off road racing. :\'(

Langley was often referred to as “the grandfather of reality TV”. And it didn’t get much more real than Cops. Every week people would tune in to see Johnny Law clean the streets of all sorts of criminal elements. Of course, each episode contained a reminder that participants should be presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Never mind that they were laying in the ground, often half dressed, tased, tackled, and shackled after getting rousted by the local popo. :-X
