This is a tough blow for my generation. I might even use the cliched "it's the end of an era", but the era has been ending for a long time.

I saw the Stones live. Some drummers are so demonstrative. Charlie was elegant. He didn't even break a sweat.

"The World's Greatest Rock & Roll Band" lost their drummer  :\'(
He joined the band in early 1963, he's been their drummer for 58 years.
Yeah I saw them live years and years ago, early in the Ronnie Wood era.

Charlie was never really a spotlight guy like Keith Moon or John Bonham. He even said in a 1991 interview that he had never watched MTV. "I'm not a showbiz guy."

Definitely the end of an era, I agree. RIP Charlie.

Charlie Watts was devoted to his wife and family for 57 years.

Charlie Watts was a badass and arguably the real leader of the Rolling Stones.

An oft-repeated tale about him was that when the Stones were out on tour sometime in the 1980's, a drunken Mick Jagger called Charlie Watts in his hotel room in the middle of the night and yelled, "Where's my drummer?!?"

Watts got out of bed, shaved, shined his shoes, put on a suit and tie and walked downstairs to Jagger, proceeded to punch him in the face, and yelled, "Never call me your drummer! You're my f**cking singer!!!"

RIP Mr. Watts. You were a class act.  :\'(
