Subject: Deon Estus Goes to the Edge of Heaven

Legendary bass player for 80s pop sensation group Wham!, Deon Estus, has set down his bass for good at the age of 65.  :\'(

A Detroit native, he was generally recognized as the third member of Wham!, and went on to play bass in George Michael’s solo endeavors. Other famous faces Estus worked with included Elton John, Marvin Gaye, Tina Turner and Annie Lennox.  8)

That's too bad.  He was a good entertainer.  He was always in the shadow of George Michael.  After Wham!, he put out a solo album in 1989, and his one and only Top 40 hit Heaven Help Me featured duet vocals with George Michael

I knew he worked with Wham!, but I didn't think he counted as an actual member. (I thought the only true members were George and Andrew.)

R.I.P. to him :\'(

I think they were speaking rhetorically. Like people mention “the fifth Beatle” (of which there are many).

In any event with Deon gone now, that leaves only Andrew Ridgeley as the remaining member of Wham!, so it is probably unrealistic to expect a reunion tour.

...whom I've often thought of as Pete Best or Stu Sutcliffe. So there were 6 total members in the history of the Beatles.

Yup.
