One of his biggest hits was A Whiter Shade of Pale. The track, released in 1967, was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1998, and was named the most-played song in public places in the U.K. for the past 75 years by the BBC in 2009.  8)

I thought I was getting Mandela'd. I was correct: It's "Procol Harum."

You beat me to the punch. I was gonna title it "Gary Brooker's last (light) fandango."

I love that song. Iconic. RIP.

White shade of pale is in absolutely iconic song , one of the greatest songs ever recorded. I think I was in 5th grade when the song first came on the scene.  Amazing song. Unforgettable. 1967 was such a good year for music.

Gary Brooker, thank you for the music.

Because they recorded that song in Alberta with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, they qualified for Canadian Content under both Artist and Production, so radio stations in Canada can use that song to fill their daily CANCON quotas.  I still hear that one on the radio alot and it still sounds epic!
