Legendary actress Louise Fletcher, who as a relatively unknown thespian was cast in her Oscar-winning role as Nurse Ratched in the classic flick One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, has checked out at 88 years of age. :\'(

Then-leading actresses including Angela Lansbury and Ellen Burstyn had all turned down the part because they did not want to appear “so mean’ on the big screen. Mr. Fletcher had no such reservations and the rest is history. 8)
