Written By: LyricBoy on 12/21/22 at 6:10 am

Legendary Picksburgh Steelers running back Franco Harris has passed away at the age of 72.  :\'(

Way back in December 1972, Franco was on the receiving end of what has been noted as the “All Time Greatest Play in Football”, the Immaculate Reception which got the Stillers their first-ever playoff win, and was the beginning of their 1970s domination of the NFL.  8)

Side note… way back when, my Mom worked with Franco’s step mother in law.  :)

Another 70s Steeler legend has been taken from us. RIP and Godspeed, Franco. :\'(

Note: The Reaper has come down hard on sports people this month, with Gaylord Perry, Paul Silas, Coach Mike Leach, soccer commentator Grant Wahl, and now Franco. RIP to all.

The Stillers dynasty has lost far too many players. Luminaries such as LC “Hollywood Bags” Greenwood, Dwight White, Coach Chuck Noll, Ernie “Fats” Holmes, Bennie Cunningham, Willie Fry, Steve Furness, Steve Courson, Theo Bell. Joe Gilliam, and “Iron Mike” Webster passed away all too soon, most of them in their fifties.  :-\\

Looks like the life expectancy in the Harris family is not very good.  :-\\

Franco’s father Cad Harris was only 60 years old when he died.

Brother Piero (“Pete”) died of an heart attack at 49.

Sister Alvara was only 59.

Brother Albert Mário was only 64.

…mother Gina Parenti Harris did live to 86 though.

There have been no accounts as to where Franco was buried, but I managed to find his gravesite (which I shall not identify the location since the family apparently does not want it known). Once there’s a grave stone erected, I’ll post a pic though.
