Composer of the much-covered "Four Strong Winds", a song that has become a standard. Also "Someday Soon" which Judy Collins did such a beautiful version of.

Ian and his then wife Sylvia performed as the duo Ian and Sylvia and their music was absolutely legendary.  Apart from Four Strong Winds, their best known song was You Were On My Mind (written solely by Sylvia) which went on to become a Top 5 hit for the group We Five and a Top 40 hit for British singer Crispian St. Peters
