Anita Pointer, legendary cofounder of the singing group The Pointer Sisters, has passed away due to cancer at the age of 74.  :\'(

Anita is the last of the three original sisters to pass away. Sister June passed away at the age of 52 in ‘06, and Bonnie passed at 69 back in ‘20.  :-\\

Their hits are too numerous for a complete listing here, but include “He’s So Shy”, “Slow Hand”, “Jump!”, and a cover of “Wang Dang Doodle”.  8)

My favorite song by them was "Automatic" as it was featured in GTA Vice City. "I'm So Excited" was another of their popular hits, and was featured in a Saved by the Bell episode.

R.I.P to another Pointer Sister. :\'(

Oh yes, I remember the SBTB episode in which the girls sang "I'm So Excited", and the boys secretly recorded them singing it. That’s when Jessie gets addicted to caffeine pills, and in one scene, Zack catches her with them and knocks them away from her; she then starts belting out the song, and Zack comforts her.

Everyone may not remember - the "initial" shtick of the group was their throwback outfits.  Here is the sisters wearing their (at the time) customary 1940's wear, performing their first big hit:

Don't forget Ruth, she's still alive. Wasn't she an original?

Um, forgive me for saying so but Ruth Pointer is still alive.  She joined the band of sisters in 1972.  :)

I liked their song the Neutron Dance.

Ruth was not an original member though. She joined the group a few years after its founding.

Anita and June were a duo and then Bonnie joined and made the group a trio, then Ruth joined the group and made them a quartet.  Then Bonnie left in 1977 and they were a trio again.

June died in 2006 from cancer, then Bonnie died in 2020 from cardiac arrest, and then Anita died in 2022 from cancer.
