Subject: Not So Happy Science for Ryuho Okawa

Written By: LyricBoy on 03/03/23 at 5:09 am

Ryuho Okawa (born Takashi Nakagawa; 中川 隆), legendary founder and spiritual figure of the Japanese ‘Happy Science’ religious cult denomination, has gone in to meet his Maker at the age of 66.

Back in ‘86, Okawa quit his office job at TOMEN Corporation and went into the new religion biz.  His followers regard him as the incarnation of a supreme being from Venus.

The Happy Science group includes a publication division called IRH Press, schools such as Happy Science Academy and Happy Science University, a political party called the Happiness Realization Party, and three media entertainment divisions, which are called New Star Production, ARI Production and HS Pictures Studio.  Pretty good setup.

His publications included addresses from the "guardian spirits" of Jesus Christ, former President Trump, Queen lead singer Freddie Mercury and Russian President Vladimir Putin. He described his books as a form of "religious journalism."

Hiroshi, Okawa’s son, denounced his father as nothing more than a con-man. He told the Times in a 2020 interview that his father "relentlessly lied to his followers" and that he believed "what my father does is complete nonsense."
