Former FCC commissioner Newton Minow, who once famously said that TV was “a vast wasteland”, has passed away due to a heart attack at the age of 97. :\'(

Because of his speech, TV executives decided to name the SS Minnow on the Gilligan’s Island TV show. ;D
Back in my college days I attended a speech by his daughter, the lovely Nell Minow :-*.

Aha.. so the boat from Gilligans Island was named after this guy. I had not known that til now!
