Written By: Philip Eno on 05/10/23 at 4:49 pm

Singer-songwriter Linda Lewis, whose career spanned more than four decades, has died at the age of 72, her family has announced.

The British musician was known for a five-octave vocal range and provided backing vocals for the likes of David Bowie and Rod Stewart.

She also enjoyed solo success in the 1970s with songs including Rock-A-Doodle-Doo and It's In His Kiss.

Paying tribute, fellow musician Midge Ure said she had sung "beautifully".

I only remember her for her floor filler in 1987 "Class/Style".

It was Cher that had it called as "The Shoop Shoop Song" (from the film), for Betty Everett in 1968 and Linda Lewis in 1975, the song was just only titled as "It's In His Kiss".

Here’s a pretty decent history of the saga of The Shoop Shoop Song (It’s In His Kiss).

There is no sign of a Shoop Shoop in the title for Linda Lewis.

R.I.P. to Linda :\'(

I had not realized that she had covered Betty Everett’s signature hit.
