Subject: School of Rock set for Nickelodeon television series

Written By: Philip Eno on 08/05/14 at 3:54 am

It's difficult to believe it's been more than a decade since School of Rock came out.

But 11 years after the film was released, Nickelodeon has announced a TV series based on the movie is on the way.

The show will follow a similar plot to the film, focussing on a failing rocker who poses as a substitute teacher and teaches students how to play rock music.

The show's cast will be announced soon.

Nickelodeon is teaming up with Paramount to create the series, which is set to be released in spring 2015.

It's reported that Jim and Steve Armogida are on board as writers, with original School of Rock director Richard Linklater and producer Scott Rudin expected to return as executive producers of the series.

School of Rock has grossed an estimated $131m (£77.8m) worldwide since its release in October 2003.

Last year, Andrew Lloyd Webber announced that he is preparing a stage musical based on the film after acquiring the theatrical rights to Linklater's film.

School of Rock featured songs from AC/DC, Cream, Led Zeppelin, The Black Keys, The Who and Jack Black.
