Subject: Which Animated Show Would You Like To Be Cancelled First?

Written By: Indy Gent on 04/14/17 at 10:41 am

You may not want any of them cancelled. And if there are any others, like a show not made or shown in the US or a show on Adult Swim, please feel free to leave a comment.

The Simpsons should be cancelled first because nobody really watches the newer episodes. Even as a big Simpsons fan, I never watched the newer episodes since the late 2000s. The show went through seasonal rot for 15 years now and the ratings for it doesn't seem to be pleasant for Fox. Even Family Guy (despite having atrocious episodes since Season 10 imo) is doing way better than The Simpsons.

Honestly, even if people really do hate TTG, it's still gonna be on for a long time since it's appeals to a lot of kids. Unlike The Simpsons (since the early '00s), it actually gains money from merchandise, TV viewings, DVD and Blu-Ray sales, and company endorsements.

If this was a joke though, then I don't know what to say.

This question is asking which animated show YOU would like to be cancelled first. This is not about whether it will be cancelled. I want Teen Titans Go! CANCELLED >:(.

Well, it did have an "other" section, so there was no need to fuss about it. lol

I think it's been on way too long. I mean, the earlier seasons were fine (that is, through mid 1990s or so), but it kinda lost its appeal after that.

That's exactly what I'm saying. It's been on the air ever since The Cosby Show was still making new episodes. Why is Fox still airing new episodes of the show, let alone having reruns of it?

That's because it still makes a profit.

Maybe so. Makes me wonder if it's ever gonna have a final season.

I heard that it's going to have two more seasons (until 2019 - about 30 years since the first episode) and then they don't know what after that. Maybe it ends in 2019 after 30 or almost 30 years...who knows

But it's not having enough ratings as it had in the 90s and even the early 2000s.

Bart Gets An F (Season 2, 1990): 33.6 million viewers
Treehouse of Horror IV (Season 5, 1993): 24 million viewers
New Kids on the Blecch (Season 12, 2001): 18.5 million viewers
Bull-E (Season 26, 2015): 2.77 million viewers

Even Family Guy is getting more ratings than The Simpsons, which makes a better profit for Fox. It averages around 5 million viewers, while The Simpsons get 3 million viewers.

I felt like I heard that from a certain YouTube video back in 2010, except it was from a Treehouse of Horror parody.

Yes, we all know that it has much lower ratings than in the 1990s but like I said it's an iconic show for one and it still makes them a profit.

If this is actually true, then I hope it gives other showrunners to give their shows an opportunity to end already after 15-20 years if their show was going through hell.

Matt Groening barely has any creative influence over the show. His main contribution is really just that he invented the characters and basic setup, but not the subsequent stories. Frasier didn't get cancelled overnight when David Angell died in 9/11.

If the Simpsons were to end abruptly, it would be due to the death or retirement of one of the show's core voice actors. The Simpsons has lost supporting cast before, and it has certainly put a damper on its strength as a series, but as long as the main six are all still aboard, it can continue as is.

If that's the case, then I hope something like Nancy Cartwight's retirement might put an end to The Simpsons.
