Subject: Favourite TV chefs?

Written By: nally on 08/10/06 at 1:34 am

Who are your favorite chefs on TV and why?

I was thinking of doing this as a poll...but I can't think of very many names offhand right now. I will add a poll later when I have more names to work with.

Anyhoo, I like Emeril Lagasse and Rachael Ray the best. They cook interesting dishes, and they're both fun to watch.

Over the years there has only been one chef that stands out in the Celebrity Chef Stakes, and that has been Graham Ker, best remembered as the Galloping Gourmet. Originally hailed from New Zealand, but made his name in Canada.

But, is he still cooking on TV?

I am a big fan of Tyler Florence, his recipes are easy to follow and his food results look heavenly. He has a show called Food 911 and my favorite, Tyler's Ultimate on the Food Network where he helps people make a certain dish or meal that they want to make but don't know how.  I recommend his recipes to anyone.

my favorite Italian chef is Lidia Matticchio Bastianich. She has a show titled Lidia's Family Table. She's an incredible chef and the dishes she makes are wonderful looking and when she samples them, you know she is totally grooving. She makes the very best pasta dishes I've ever seen. And what's cool is sometimes she'll have her wine expert son come onto the show and pick out italian wines to go with her dishes. Her mom and daughter occasionally chip in, She's on Public television.

Rachael Ray and Mario Batali
I like Mario, I wonder what happened to his brother who used to be on the show with him. Mario can flat out cook and I love when he goes to the Italian neighborhood stores to shop for meats and cheeses and specialty items.

Alton Brown.  Rachael and Giada are cute.  But when I'm in the kitchen, I'm only there for the food.

She's a Red Sox fan.  Therefore, she can cook me dinner provided I get to throw it in her face when she's done.  :P

When I was younger, I liked watching Delia Smith's How To Cook. Jamie Oliver is also a favourite TV/celebrity chef of mine and I like it when he says, "Pukka!"

It is Chef Jamie Oliver spending over four hours wearing a latex suit to warn of the effects of fatty foods as part of his Channel 4 campaign to improve children's diets.
