Lots of retro food commercials on YouTube. I know of commercials of McD's there from the 80s. Can't find where exactly.

I check out a writers blog called:newsfromme.com
they usually post old show clips plus old animated commercials..in the recent weeks archive, they show the old SUGAR POPS animatd commercial-when it was cool to say 'IT'S MADE WITH SUGAR!'

Speaking of which, according to a Snopes thread, "They're happy because they eat LARD!" was a parody of 50s ads that appeared in Viz issue 52, February / March 1992, on page 21.
But the real cookbooks of the era weren't much different!
