Most of us children of the 70s and 80s probably remember that Coca Cola had another diet soft drink on the market called Tab, which got its unique taste from its saccharin sweetener - I remember trying it when I was a kid and thought it was pretty good. 

Remember the commercial slogan: "Tab Tab Cola what a beautiful drink, Tab Tab Cola for beautiful people..."

I think it most likely started to dip in popularity with a combination of the introduction of Diet Coke in 1982 and most diet soft drinks switching to Nutrasweet by 1985 - however Tab is still available in limited markets (its now sweetened with both saccharin and Nutrasweet and Tab even came out with an energy drink as well).  :)

It was okay. I would offer sneak tastes because my mom didn't want me to drink it.

I tried it.  I wasn't a big fan, though.  I thought it had an aftertaste  :P

I used to drink my Mom's too but I would never buy it. I hate the aftertaste of all diet drinks too. 8-P

I used to avoid diet sodas too because of the aftertaste but when I was dieting a few years ago I started out by drinking diet root beer or Diet 7-up which didn't have an aftertaste until I got past that - now I drink Diet Pepsi all the time and I love it!

I STILL drink it, but only when I can afford it. :P

I think that's why I don't drink diet sodas but I thought the aspertame could cause brain damage. I heard that somewhere, I dunno?

I drank it- I didn't like the aftertaste either but for some reason I thought it was cool because all the adults were all drinking it... then I found out it was diet soda and never drank it again

YUCK!!  I hate Tab, to me it has the worst flavor.  That's all my mother ever drank.

I think they only make it on this side of the Mississippi. I have failed to find it in California. :P

It was only out for a short time in the U.K, I don't think it was very popular. I do remember Tab Clear which I used to buy every now and then.

I didn't like TAB all that much. The aftertaste was too strong.

Whenever I think of TAB cola, though, I think of my 4th grade teacher, who used to keep several cans of it on her desk everyday.  ;D
